Last week we met in Lugo, Spain, hosted by our project partners Universidad de Santiago de Compostela (USC). In 2.5 intensive days, we worked on crucial developments that characterize the last phase of our project and planned the final steps. Here is a snapshot of our experience:
We discussed our „decision support tool”, which is nearing completion, and tested the „business environment tool”. You can look forward to using these and some other tools developed as part of the project next year. A summary of the „value chain workshops” and the „replication workshops”, that took place during the project, provided insightful strategies for the sustainability and scalability of our project. A small internal workshop on further potential scientific publications from the project results provided ideas on how to disseminate our research findings.
In addition to valuable presentations and discussions in the meeting room, we were also out and about:
Day 1 began with an insightful visit to the biochar trials on the Lugo campus.
Day 2 at ‘Finca Mouriscade’ we saw a sustainable approach to regional analysis of animal feed and were allowed to look behind the scenes in their laboratory, their cow farm and their biogas plant.
Day 3 took us to Greenalia, a regional company that among other things produces energy from forestry waste, and we were given a tour of the plant wearing a bright yellow safety vest and helmet.
Excited by the progress we have made and the milestones that lie ahead, we prepare for the end of the GO-GRASS journey.
