Last week, as Easter approached and our project drew to a close, we reached one last major milestone:
We did our industrial trial at Schut Papier, where we produced grass paper on their large machines. It was a complete success and we were able to produce 1000 kg of grass paper, replacing 25% of the wood cellulose with grass cellulose.
Crucial to this success was the grass fiber process developed by our partner ACRRES over the last four years. If you would like to find out more, watch our demo video.
In addition, the grass used comes from a national park in Friesland and was organized by our partner Noardlike Fryske Wâlden.
The success of our industrial test is a step forward in redefining conventional papermaking methods and underlines the importance of local collaboration and thinking outside the box in the collection, process and production of sustainable green materials.
